About Aravinda

We all carry silent battles. Some are loud and visible, but most live quietly within us — in our anxieties, our relationships, or in the quiet moments when we feel unlike ourselves. Therapy is where the unspoken can find expression, and I am here to help you pause, reflect, and move through these moments with clarity. I am Aravinda Nandakumar, a Counselling and Family Therapist trained in advanced psychotherapies. I work with individuals, couples, and families who are facing challenges such as anxiety, grief, trauma, and relational conflict.

Professional Background

I hold an M.Sc. in Counselling and Family Therapy and have pursued advanced certifications from institutions including NIMHANS, American Psychological Association (APA), Counsellor Council of India (CCI) and the University of Pennsylvania ICEEFT trained. I am a member of the American Psychological Association and the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP). Clinical experience includes work at Spandana Rehabilitation Centre, where psychological assessments were conducted and individuals were supported through concerns such as depression, substance dependence, and complex family dynamics.

My expertise spans a broad range of evidence-based and advanced psychotherapeutic approaches.I work from an attachment focused and trauma informed lens, integrating therapies for deep healing. Alongside this work, there is extensive experience with couples and families, substance use concerns, abnormal psychology, and relational conflict.

I work with adolescents, adults, and senior adults, offering a warm, collaborative, and individualised therapeutic space. Staying engaged with new research and emerging therapeutic developments allows effective practices to be integrated thoughtfully, so the support you receive remains nuanced and clinically refined.

Therapeutic Approach

I view therapy as a collaborative process: one that requires clarity, patience, and respect. My role is to listen with empathy, to ask the questions that matter, and to create a structured yet compassionate space where new possibilities for change can emerge.

The work we do together is grounded in evidence-based methods, but held with warmth and steadiness that makes honest exploration feel possible. In-person or online, I show up with the same care, presence, and calm, so you feel supported wherever you are.

Finding the right therapist is deeply personal. If I am not the right fit, I will guide you toward someone who may be — because what matters most is that you feel supported and understood.
